Provided by our dietitian, this 2 hour class is intended for those patients and family members with high cholesterol. Patients are generally referred to the group by our family physician. Patients are able to go over their own blood work results and learn what their goals should be. With education on diet and life style, this session is able to give the patients a beginning base for better eating habits and decrease their risk for heart disease

NORTH HASTINGS DIABETES EDUCATION PROGRAM
The North Hastings Family Health Team is pleased to be able to provide the Diabetes Program for all residents of North Hastings. Patients are accepted by both self-referrals, and referrals by Healthcare Providers.
Classes: We offer group classes for Pre-Diabetes, Diabetes, and Insulin classes. Theses classes are by appointment only, family members are welcome to attend.
Education: A large part of Diabetes Management involves education to allow patients to self-manage their Diabetes. 1:1 appointments are available to assist patients to actively control and manage their own Diabetes. Our Certified Diabetes Educators are available to assist you with all aspects of your Diabetes. Follow up reports are sent to Primary Healthcare Providers.
Foot care: is part of the yearly assessment done for all patients with Diabetes. This clinic is provided by our Registered Nurse who will assess and examine the feet. The goal is to educate patients to recognize signs and symptoms of complications possible from Diabetes and manage their own foot care with guidance. Clients are requested to come with clean feet. Holter and BP Monitoring
By appointment and referrals only, this service is provided to all patients of North Hastings in conjunction with Dr Hughes cardiology services.
Provided on a daily and urgent basis, referrals are made by the family physician and booked with our receptionists. There is no charge for the Holter (heart) monitor, but $50 is required for the BP monitoring-this is paid to Kawartha Cardiology.
SMOKING CESSATION
Are you ready to quit? Then come to our 11 week course designed to encourage and motivate the person who is ready to stop smoking. In coordination with the Public Health Unit, our FHT will provide group sessions to meet the needs of those ready to get back their life.

ANTICOAGULATION CLINIC
Are you taking blood thinners? Then our services are available to you at the clinic. Our patients are able to have a "finger prick" point of care testing done at our office to give you your INR (blood result) right away. Our Nurse, under directions from the Dr. will inform you immediately of adjustments that may be needed to your medications. No more long waits or vials of blood taken.
